  The Battle of Kings Mountain was a decisive battle of the American Revolutionary War between the Patriot and Loyalist militias. Part of the Southern campaign, it took place on October 7, 1780 near Kings Mountain, North Carolina. Here, Patriot militia defeated Loyalist forces commanded by British Major Patrick Ferguson.

The Battle of Kings Mountain lasted sixty-five minutes. The Loyalists suffered 244 killed, 163 wounded, and 668 taken prisoner. The Patriot militia suffered 29 killed and 58 wounded.
